Aah, a Green Smoothie. Green smoothies are an incredible way to get your much-needed veggie servings in one quick, jam-packed, glass-sized helping. Most of us don’t eat enough green leafy vegetables as part of our daily diet or fruit for that matter, so blending them up into a yummy smoothie is definitely the way to go. They’re a fast, convenient and delicious way to pump your body full of nutrients. Green smoothies are great for the waist line and one’s overall health, but they also do wonders for the skin!
They may be little, but berries bring on big beautifying benefits for your skin.
Berries are full of antioxidant compounds that neutralize damaging free radicals that lead to skin cell damage and premature skin aging. A diet high in fat and carbohydrates can also encourage skin aging, so blueberries prevent aging by providing you with many needed nutrients while providing very low levels of fat and cholesterol.
Many of the vitamins in blueberries may neutralize or normalize oil levels in your skin, making it healthier and less likely to accumulate sebum. Vitamin A, in particular, is used in a variety of acne-related skin treatments.
The vitamin C in blueberries can help to strengthen the blood vessels just below the surface of your skin. Broken capillaries occur due to weakness within the vessel walls. When this occurs, skin may become splotchy, or tiny red lines may be visible under your skin. these broken capillaries may take months or years to heal and disappear. The stronger your capillaries, the more resistance they are to breaking. The vitamin C in blueberries can help to strengthen the blood vessels just below the surface of your skin.
Here is a smoothie that is great for your beautiful face!
- Ingredients1/4 cup frozen or fresh blueberries1/4 cup frozen or fresh raspberries1/4 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
1/4 cup kale
1 cup water
1 tbsp. Coconut Oil (Coconut also contains vitamin E, which is essential for healthy skin growth and repair)
Place all ingredients in a high power blender. Whirl until completely smooth and serve.
* To mix it up you can substitute the 1 cup of water with 1 cup of Vanilla Almond Milk and add vanilla Stevia to taste.
